Description

The 111-room Z Shoreditch, which opened in 2015, is an upper-middle-range hotel in London’s trendy Shoreditch neighborhood.  The hotel takes advantage of its Silicon Roundabout location by providing contemporary rooms.

Luxury amenities include 48-inch HD Samsung Smart TVs with Sky TV and BT Sport, touch-panel air-conditioning and heating, and coffee-making facilities; however, desks are conspicuously absent from smaller rooms.

The impressive lobby cafe has a post-industrial aesthetic and serves artisanal produce in addition to an extensive breakfast buffet for an additional fee.

There are also evening wine-and-cheese events for free.  The rates are extremely affordable for this area of the city, but the small rooms may deter some guests.

Consider the more expensive Hoxton, Shoreditch, for a comparable location with additional space.

Z Hotel London Review

  • Description

The Z Hotel Soho provides everything necessary for a few nights in town.  Concentrated style, an out-of-town price, and the West End are at your feet as soon as you exit the building.  No hotels outside of the city center for you.

Space is unimportant.  How you utilize it is crucial.  As soon as you enter your Z Room, the price makes perfect sense.  You are staying in Soho’s core, where space is limited.  You are not, however, paying a premium.

The rooms range in size from 8 to 14 square meters in compact luxury.  Z Soho is a conversion of twelve Georgian townhouses by a designer.  Classic architectural proportions are combined with modern design on the exterior.

There are 85 rooms inside, which are arranged around a courtyard.  And it situates you on Moor Street, between the theaters and bookstores of Cambridge Circus and Charing Cross Road – and the vibrant universe of Old Compton Street.

  • Scene

Best for short stays, this trendy hotel flaunts a lot of Shoreditch’s edgy style.

The Z Shoreditch opened in 2015 in an important historic building in the East End of London.

This hotel stands out among the area’s futuristic and contemporary architecture for all the right reasons.

It was constructed in 1898 by tea tycoon and philanthropist Sir Thomas Lipton as a restaurant serving inexpensive meals to nearby factory workers.  Perhaps influenced by the building’s history and its location in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city, the design is eye-catching but unpretentious.

The cafe’s vibrant floor tiles and pendant lighting are a nod to the area’s fashion-forward atmosphere.  The hotel’s reputation for speedy, uncomplicated check-ins is consistent with the lobby’s small size.

Additionally, there is ample seating in the cafe.  Numerous outlets and delicious food encourage guests to use their laptops while unwinding.

This hotel offers competitive rates, especially for a London establishment, but these rooms are best for short stays due to their small size.

  • Location

The hotel is close to The City and surrounded by bars and restaurants in Shoreditch and Hoxton.

The Z Hotel group refers to its loyal guests as urbanites, and its city-center location is what most guests find appealing.  Each of the group’s hotels in affluent London postcodes is in close proximity to businesses, bars, and restaurants.

The Z Shoreditch is located in one of London’s most fashionable neighborhoods, Shoreditch.  Guests can reach the Old Street Underground station in one minute on foot.

There are a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops within 10 minutes walking distance of the hotel.

The majority of East End attractions and nightlife are located in the vicinity of Hoxton and Shoreditch High Street.  Old Street in Shoreditch is regarded as one of the area’s liveliest streets.

It has a variety of nightlife, from underground DJ sets to chic cocktail bars, and is only a six-minute walk from the hotel.

Hoxton Square, one of the oldest squares in London, is only a nine-minute walk from bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.  Old street, the closest train station, is the best way to reach The City, with the trip taking approximately 10 minutes.

The majority of Central London attractions are accessible by train or taxi for at least 20 minutes.  Big Ben, the Tower of London, and Hyde Park all take around 20 minutes by train from the hotel.

Heathrow Airport is approximately one hour and twenty minutes from Gatwick Airport.

  • Rooms

The rooms are small and modern, with amenities such as flat-screen televisions, free wifi, and air conditioning.

The 111 rooms at this hotel are undeniably small, but the most impressive aspect is the contemporary design that maximizes the limited space.

The interiors feature dark wooden floors and light wooden wall panels.  In addition to the dark wood tone, the spartan furniture features chocolate-colored fabric headboards, crisp white linens, and chic gray accents.

The neutral color scheme feels pristine and minimal.  Only the larger Double and Queen Rooms have space for the small desks and chairs.  Keep in mind that some interior rooms lack windows and offer only pegboard hanging racks for storage.

Standard high-end amenities in all units include 48-inch HD Samsung Smart TVs with Sky Package, free wifi, coffee-and-tea-making facilities, touch-panel air-conditioning, and heating, plus en-suite shower rooms.

These are sectioned off by glass partitions and include free toiletries and hair dryers.  The most premium option is the Z Family Room, which is a bi-level space with two queen beds, and two TVs.

It’ll still be a squeeze for a family but a lot of fun for small children.

  • Features

However, there are no meeting rooms at this establishment.

Because the rooms are so small, Z Shoreditch is fortunate to have a ground-floor cafe.

It’s spacious and fashion-forward, with punchy teal tables and industrial stools, and wooden chairs.  There is a chalkboard menu for breakfast and lunch, as well as beer, wine, and the hotel’s own ice cream in the refrigerators.

Breakfast is available for an additional fee and is exceptional, featuring local honeycombs and daily fresh bread deliveries.  Every evening, complimentary cheeses and wines are provided, with the menu changing every three months.

Another nice extra is the free fruit that’s available during the day.  It is surprising that this hotel, which caters primarily to business travelers, lacks meeting rooms and event spaces.

Free wifi is accessible throughout the hotel.

The location was great for those looking to be in the heart of Leicester Square, but it was not ideal for us due to the noise and drinking nearby. Additionally, the room was small and could only be accessed from one side. Despite these issues, the staff was nice and the room was clean and comfortable.
