ToggleBristol Marriott Royal hotel review
Description
Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel has indeed been attracting tourists for over 150 years and is centrally located in Bristol. In keeping with its royal name, the hotel provides a premium and elevated experience.Β
The guest rooms and suites have recently been renovated and feature stylish dΓ©cor, coffee makers, and flat-screen TVs. The hotel is adjacent to Bristol Cathedral and is a short walk from the train station, Cabot Circus, and the Bristol Hippodrome Theatre.Β
Those hosting events in Bristol will be impressed by the Grade II listed Victorian building and the variety of spaces available, as well as the expert planning teams and professional catering services.Β
Finally, dine at Miller & Carter steakhouse, which serves the finest steaks prepared by the master butcher and expertly prepared by the chef. Choose the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel for its friendly staff and modern amenities when looking for a premium hotel in southern England. A hidden treasure in the United Kingdom.
Scene
The Queen Victoria statue outside serves as a reminder of the hotel’s illustrious past (Winston Churchill and Cary Grant both stayed here).Β
The impressive Grade II-listed faΓ§ade with its bay windows sets the tone for what is said to be Bristol’s oldest hotel.Β
The spacious, marble-floored lobby features chandeliers, a warm aubergine color scheme, and a red uniformed concierge; an unusual touch is a vanilla essence that wafts through the hall.
This is a large hotel, and it’s easy to get lost, with a sometimes jarring mix of the traditional and the corporate. Take a look at the Palm Court room, which is popular for weddings and has three-story Bath stone walls, statues, and a stained glass ceiling.Β
The royal blue-painted drawing room/tea lounge offers a respite from the surrounding din. The walls are covered with a mixture of oil paintings, prints, and modern art.
Location
The hotel is near Harbourside at the bottom of Park Street, close to the architecturally stunning Bristol Cathedral – but also a short walk from Bristol Aquarium, We The Curious interactive science museum (great for children), the Watershed cinema and arts center, and the Arnolfini contemporary art space.Β
There are also some fantastic independent restaurants and shops in nearby Wapping Wharf. The Bristol Museum & Art Gallery is located at the top of Park Street.
Rooms
There are 266 rooms, including 25 suites, spread across six floors and divided into 12 categories. All are fairly spacious, but a room on the upper floors is worth it for the view, which could be of the cathedral, the harbor, or Park Street (the hotel is triangular in shape).Β
Rooms are comfortable and decorated in burnt orange and grey, with comfortable beds (some four-poster), desks, and some modern artwork – my room featured a painting of Jimi Hendrix by a local artist (presumably in honor of the guitarist’s appearance at the city’s Colston Hall in 1967).Β
The small, green-walled bathrooms mostly have showers (though some suites have baths) and are stocked with Acca Kappa products, as well as a movie menu with the television.
Features
The well-equipped fitness center is popular. The hotel also has laundry and dry cleaning services, as well as a car park, which is a plus in the city but comes at a cost – Β£17 for 24 hours.Β
In public places, Wi-Fi is free. The service is professional and efficient.
Food and drink
Miller & Carter Steakhouse franchised the restaurant, bar, and tea lounge.Β
The spacious restaurant’s bold red color scheme, leather seats, and bull paintings give off a rather masculine vibe – but clever paneling breaks up the space (there’s also some outdoor seating). Steaks are the thing here, and they’re very good – with a variety of sizes, sauces, and side options; the wine list, which is helpful, also suggests wines that complement your steak, such as an Argentinian Malbec with the T-Bone or Bordeaux with the fillet.
There are plenty of options for fish and vegetarians, including rooted fennel, quinoa, and piquillo pepper burger.Β
Afternoon tea with the works starts at Β£16, while breakfast (starting at Β£15) is mostly self-service and a frantic affair; there are Γ la carte options. The substantial bar carries on the red leather/bull theme.
